Gardening experts point out that you can use old kitchen sponges so that the soil for your plants has better qualities. All you have to do is set the kitchen sponges aside while you use them.

We explain step by step what to do:

Wash the sponge with hot water and disinfect it with vinegar, baking soda or bleach. Leave it in the solution for 24 hours.
Squeeze the sponge to remove any accumulated water and cut small pieces of sponge with scissors.
In a bag, add the soil and mix everything with the pieces of sponge that you have cut. It will serve as a base for your vases.
Add some soil to a pot and an additional layer of your new preparation (the one with the sponge pieces).
The advantage of this alternative is that it will help the soil and your plants have and accumulate enough moisture, but without affecting their development. It is also additional protection for the roots of your plants.
